Could someone please tell me if there is a way to remove V9 from my android tablet's Google Search APP?? It is not listed anywhere in SETTINGS, APPS, or anywhere, other than when I click on my GOOGLE APP to do a search, and then V9 is the engine that comes up. Yet if I go direct to my Chrome or Firefox browsers, Google Search is the chosen engine and that is what is used, BUT NOT IN THE GOOGLE SEARCH APP :-).

I have done both several RESETS, including a HARD RESET at the Nobis Tablet's support persons direction to no avail.

HELP, PLEASE :-)

Hi JazzAzz, I have read about China manufacturers adding various potentially unwanted applications to their products so this could be in your case. That's the first time I hear about v9 redirect being injected to Google search app. I will be aware of this. Thanks.

Tomas, not sure why this grp. is seeing my reply as SPAM, but I will try to get around it, having taken a screen shot of what I am trying to say:

Hi JazzAzz, maybe you somehow manged to download a fake Google Search App, if possible try removing it and downloading it again. I can't think of anything else since you encounter the same problem even after a factory reset. That is really strange.

Hi JazzAzz, I haven't jet seen this browser hijacker affecting the Google Search App - you could try booting your android device to safe mode and searching for some potentially unwanted applications that could have been installed. You could use this removal guide to help you - https://www.pcrisk.com/computer-technician-blog/viruses/8432-how-to-remove-android-ransomware-viruses You can also download an antivirus/anti-malware app for your android device and see if it can detect anything. Here are a couple that I can recommend - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.malwarebytes.antimalware&hl=en or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avast.android.mobilesecurity&hl=en

Thanks. I have installed several anti virus APPs, trying Avast Mobile Security, AVG, and yesterday a CyberPal suggested Kaspersky. None see anything, saying the tablet is clean, yet there it is, when I click and do a search on that GOOGLE APP, "V9," comes up as the search engine., and this "PCRISK" site tells you how to remove it from every Browser (I have easily done it from my PCs), but there is nothing in this site specific to Android tablets www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/6896-remove-v9-com-redirect). Now even, "PCRISK," says it is not a virus, calling it a legit site, albeit a hijacker, but many disagree. I am beginning to think that my particular brand, "Nobis," tablet was manufactured that way, which is why doing a hard reset did not clear it, as their support person said it should. Even the little booklet that came with it, pointing out that little ICON (Search) in their PICs calls it, "Google Search." As far as SAFE Mode, I believe that is also in the Menu you get going into a HARD RESET, holding down both the Volume button and Power Button, at he same time, till it goes into that. That is how you HARD RESET it.

P.S. Tomas>>I forgot to mention that I also have run Malwarebytes, several times. And I just Googled how to get into SAFE MODE in an Android Tablet, but I don't see the point. I know for a fact that there are no PUAs there. Only APPs on that tablet are the built in ones, and a couple a three that I installed only from the Google Web Store, and those were mostly the anti viruses, MalwareBytes. I also had pinger.com's, "TextFree," now removed, as soon as I realized how to use my HANGOUTS properly. Nothing, NO APPs, there that should not be. And as I mentioned, that V9 only comes up when opening and searching using the GOOGLE Search APPs, nowhere else. When I did that last HARD RESET, holding the Volume & Power Buttons down till that screen came up, after I came out of it, not doing ANYTHING, not updating, installing a thing, I went right to that built in GOOGLE APPs to do a search, expecting to see V9 gone, supposedly being back to FACTORY SETTINGS, and V9 was there right off the bat :-)
