I received the Microsoft virus warning and shut down my computer. Now when I turn it on all I get is a black screen. What do I do?

I received the Microsoft virus warning and shut down my computer. When I turned it back on it just kept rolling saying it was configuring Microsoft. After a while I thought that couldn't be good and again shut down the computer. Now when I turn it in all I get us a black screen.
