I have tried the resolutions presented in the article dealing with "ad by not.set" without success. I have reset my Chrome browser, looked for an extension to remove (none installed related to this), looked in programs to remove something related but nothing there. If I do a search using Google, I get an extra box at the top of links provided by not.set. I also get a green banner at the top of web pages offering "alternative" shopping sites with pricing. How can I remove this annoyance?

I can also recommend scanning your computer with Hitman Pro (has a 30 days trial version) - you can download it here - https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/hmp.aspx If this won't pick up anything you could try uninstalling your Chrome browser and doing a fresh install.

Hi Scott, when checking for extensions in your browsers you could try temporary disabling all the installed extensions. In some cases legitimate extensions can start displaying unwanted ads. I would also suggest scanning your computer with Spyhunter and Malwarebytes Antimalware - both of the mentioned programs are great at detecting adware anf potentially unwanted application. In your case they cause "ads by not set". These ads are actually caused by some adware that is malfunctioning - it should display ads by "adware name".

I have already tried the software solutions you mentioned. I can tell you that I have identified the culprit as "Rocket Tab." I simply cannot remove it.

Hi Scott, additionally I could recommend scanning your computer with AdwCleaner - https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/ It's a free program that is great when trying to get rid of adware (including Rocket Tab).

I tried the AdwCleaner and was hopeful that would work since it found something in the Chrome browser, which I use exclusively. I decided to check Firefox, and it doesn't have the issue. I have tried everything I can think of including resetting Chrome to remove everything I have added. The Rocket Tab issue is still there. I am at a loss as to how to remove it. I guess it is time to start digging through the registry a bit deeper. Any more thoughts? (I had to use Firefox to post this reply as Chrome would not accept any clicks after typing. I really think something in Chrome is messed up.)

I tried Hitman Pro (only 10 days trial but it ran) with no success. Got to keep digging because this "adware" is pain to deal with.
