Are computer cleaning programs legit?

When I say computer cleaning programs I'm referring to stuff like advanced systemcare or slimcleaner. Does stuff like this really work, and do I need them? Or can I learn how to do everything these programs do by myself (and if so how can I learn)

0Hello RealGrynomics,
System cleaning/optimization software may actually help to improve the computer performance. Removing redundant files/software, installing/updating drivers, etc. is rather useful and healthy for your computer. Yet it may requires some knowledge and thus some people find it troublesome.
Now it is important to note that there are tons of applications that are fake and only attempt to trick users into purchasing the "full versions" while displaying non-existent error messages (e.g., registry entries that need to be fixed and so on - more information here). For this reason, you have to be really careful while choosing software of this type. We advise you to choose a reputable brand (CCleaner is a fine example). If you're uncertain, be sure to search for reviews of the chosen software.
Hope that helps.References:

0PC Cleaning Apps are a Scam: Here's Why (and How to Speed Up Your PC) PC cleaning apps are digital snake oil. The web is full of ads for applications that want to “clean your PC” and “make it feel like new.” Don't pull out your credit card — these apps are terrible and you don't need them.
